James 2:21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered Isaac his son on the altar? 22 Do you see that faith was working together with his works, and by works faith was made perfect?
Each time I’ve read the entire passage for this month, I’ve glossed over the fact that it is a dialogue between James and multiple people. When I finally think about it, everyone in the group that James was speaking to didn’t seem to realize the value of work. I seemed like everyone put a significant weight on faith. Ultimately, I take this as a reminder of the fact that I may have to remind other and be reminded by others of the importance of work. Because of this, I have to say that I didn’t always act on what I was feeling when Steadman told me to “push through and get it done” or when a friend would just smile and nod as I vented. They were all doing that because at the end of the day, I needed to do the work to accomplish the goal. The work wasn’t going to get done on its own and my dream wasn’t going to come to me on a silver platter. So, with this in mind, I am going to move forward and encourage myself more and to be an accountability partner for anyone I know that is working toward a goal. It’s just that simple.
LET’S DO WORK. LET’S HELP EACH OTHER DO WORK.
